The Technician Training Manager is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of training programs for technicians across the organization. This role manages a team of trainers, oversees the creation of engaging and effective training content, and ensures technicians are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to perform at a high level. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a passion for workforce development, hands-on technical knowledge, and strong leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages a team of technician trainers, provides coaching, support, and performance feedback.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains technician training programs, including onboarding, upskilling, and certification pathways.
  • Collaborates with operations, safety, and technical teams to identify training needs and align content with business goals.
  • Oversees the creation of training materials such as manuals, e-learning modules, videos, and hands-on labs.
  • Implements and manages learning management systems (LMS) and other training delivery platforms.
  • Monitors technician training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics; adjust programs as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Stays current with industry trends, tools, and best practices in technician training and adult learning.
  • Maintains and develops vendor relationships that pertain to technician scope.
  • Provides friendly and competent customer service.
  • Reports for work in a timely manner when scheduled.

Additional Job Duties: 

  • Assists with other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises up to six team members.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience (include certs or licenses needed):

 

  • Associate’s degree in education, Technical Training, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Current ASE certifications in T2-T8 or able to obtain within one year of employment.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical training, workforce development, or technician operations.
  • 2+ years of experience in leadership or management role.
  • Certifications in fabrication or 3+ years of experience in welding is preferred.

  

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design.
  • Experience with LMS platforms and digital training tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and proprietary systems for the transportation industry.
  • A leadership style that encompasses passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing others.
  • Organizational agility—comfortable navigating change, ambiguity, and shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
  • Ability to travel is needed to support training initiatives across locations.
  • Valid Driver’s license and insurable to drive.
  • Must be able to communicate in English. – IF APPLICABLE
  • Able and willing to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service.
  • Able and willing to work cooperatively with other team members.
