The Hotel Maintenance/Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall condition of the hotel property, including interior and exterior areas, to meet company and brand standards.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, processes and completes maintenance requests from the front desk and management in a timely manner.
  • Performs detailed cleaning in guest rooms and common areas including but not limited to carpet shampooing, floor steaming, flipping mattresses, HVAC vent/PTAC detailing light fixture cleaning, wall and baseboard scrubbing, minor drywall and furniture repairs and replacement of fire alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries any other additional duties assigned by the Head Housekeeper/AGM/GM.
  • Changes indoor and outdoor light bulbs (as needed. 
  • Addresses and manages cleanup from unexpected incidents (e.g. water leaks). 
  • Performs minor plumbing repairs in restrooms and guest rooms. 
  • Moves furniture and items as needed for cleaning or maintenance repairs.
  • Reports issues beyond the scope of assigned duties the immediate supervisor.
  • Maintains landscaping surrounding the buildings including trimming and general upkeep
  • Performs light snow shoveling and salting of sidewalks and entryways during winter months.
  • Keeps the parking lot, sidewalks and perimeter clean and free of litter and debris.
  • Empties trash receptacles inside the building and around the property perimeter.
  • Completes preventive maintenance for all rooms on a quarterly basis and documents per brand-approved standards.
  • Performs minor and routine plumbing and general maintenance activities, including interior and exterior painting.
  • Notifies management of the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, or ventilation systems.
  • Reports customer complaints to management promptly.
  • Operates power equipment including power washer, mowers, and related tools.
  • Maintains restrooms by ensuring cleanliness and restocking supplies.
  • Completes assigned work lists each shift.
  • Ensures cleaning supplies stocked properly labeled and safely stored.
  • Follows all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Provides friendly and competent customer service.
  • Reports for work in a timely manner when scheduled.

 

Additional Job Duties:

  • Assists with in other duties, as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience (include certs or licenses needed):

  • General maintenance and custodial experience preferred.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Must be flexible with the ability to adapt to change when required.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
  • Must be well groomed and properly attired.
  • Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and any shift needed.
  • Must have reliable transportation and phone.
  • Must be able to communicate in English. – IF APPLICABLE
  • Able and willing to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service.
  • Able and willing to work cooperatively with other team members.
