The Fuel Program Sales Representative is responsible for executing fuel sales strategies developed by the sales division. This position’s primary duty is to obtain new fuel program accounts and increase gallons purchased through Pump & Pantry locations and the Travel Center OTR Pilot Program. The role is primarily an outside sales position that regularly works in the field meeting with prospective and existing customers, conducting sales presentations and developing business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Fuel Sales Manager to develop strategic action plan and goals to increase fuel sales within the Pump & Pantry Division
  • Actively solicits new business and obtains orders or contracts for fleet fueling programs through in-person sales calls with prospective and existing customers.
  • Spends the majority of work time outside the office meeting with customers and prospects at their places of business or other field locations.
  • Maintains Pilot and Ambest fleet fueling platforms
  • Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the Pump & Pantry fleet fuel programs available to both retail and commercial customers and prospects.
  • Works closely with sales management, customer service staff and fuel administrative staff to ensure that all understand roles and responsibilities.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationship with the Pump & Pantry Division leadership including the Division Manager, Regional Managers and General Managers.
  • Assists in the development and execution of customer retention initiatives including but not limited to:
    • Building face-to-face relationships with customers.
    • Implementing consistent follow-up and check-in strategies.
    • Identifies opportunities to increase gallons purchased at Pump & Pantry locations.
  • Assists in the development of a continuous lead generation strategies.
  • Consistently follows up on and properly qualifies leads through appropriate sales activities such as cold calling, phone outreach, and electronic communication.
  • Assists fleet card customers with resolving issues related to the Pump & Pantry Fleet Select card system including account maintenance and fleet reporting portal.
  • Utilizes the proposal system appropriately when preparing and presenting sales opportunities.
  • Maintains consistent and effective use of the CRM system to manage customer relationships, track lead conversion, and report sales activities.
  • Identifies and monitors competitor activity statewide and within local markets, providing ongoing strategic insight to management.
  • Determines marketing tool needs and assists with development and implementation of those tools as appropriate.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special projects.
  • Attends marketing and promotional events that support customer appreciation and lead development efforts.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience (includes certs or licenses needed):

  • Associates degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred. 3-5 years of combined sales and customer service experience.
  • Energy and/or transportation industry experience preferred.

  • Ability to apply effective negotiation and closing techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong customer relationship and business development skills.
  • Dependable, responsible and self-motivated.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel a required for customer meetings, events or business needs.
  • Must be able to communicate in English – IF APPLICABLE.
  • Able and willing to deliver friendly, courteous and prompt customer service.
  • Able to work cooperatively with other team members.

  • This position is primarily an outside sales role. The employee is expected to customarily and regularly travel and work away from company locations conducting in-person sales calls, customer meetings, and prospect development activities.
