Salary:  $40,000 - $50,000 Annually DEQ

 

The Assistant Kitchen Manager is responsible for assisting the kitchen manager in the daily operations of the kitchen.  The major accountability of the Assistant Kitchen Manager is to provide the best service possible by preparing each and every product in compliance with company specifications to meet and exceed the expectations of our guests.

Responsibilities

  • Works directly with the Kitchen Manager to maximize food quality, quick ticket times, labor efficiency and food/supply cost minimization.
  • Prepares schedules for kitchen, bus and dish Team Members in order to achieve labor budgets.  
  • Provides proper training and retraining to all new kitchen Team Members.
  • Completes daily inventory counts and verifies with the Manager.
  • Assists in monitoring and implementing housekeeping and sanitation standards, which includes cleaning of the entire kitchen; responsible for maintaining appropriate cleaning schedules for the entire kitchen: floors, mats, walls, hoods, ceiling, other equipment, and food storage areas. 
  • Executes monthly food inventory and utilizes the inventory software reporting to follow up with food variances and is accountable for food cost.
  • Assists the Kitchen Manager in conducting regular departmental meetings. Adheres to checklists and maintenance schedules.
  • Receives, verifies and delivers items to the proper storage areas while dating items received.
  • Completes food order from suppliers in the absence of the Kitchen Manager. 
  • Rotates food products to preserve quality and control waste. 
  • Assists Kitchen Manager with food orders.
  • Preserves the food’s value through proper ordering, rotation, and defrosting procedures.
  • Monitors food preparation along with ensuring the freshness of the food to only serve quality food.
  • Ensures kitchen Team Members have all the tools necessary to perform their jobs.
  • Ensures all daily sidework is completed by staff and checked out by management before leaving the building.
  • Generates fun and excitement through personality and positive attitude to help ensure a positive team environment.
  • Reports for work in a timely manner when scheduled.

 Additional Job Duties:

  • Assists in other duties, as assigned.

 Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises 10 or more employees in the absence of the Kitchen Manager.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Qualifications (include certs or licenses needed):

  • Minimum of six months kitchen experience is required, supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Serv-Safe Certified.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong culinary aptitude from work and/or educational experiences.
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle stressful situations.
  • Must be highly motivated, organized and able to handle multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Understand safe food handling and safety procedures in the kitchen.
  • Strong attention to detail with a sense of urgency.
  • Must conduct self in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
  • Must have PC Software experience.
  • Must possess a positive, enthusiastic attitude to promote teamwork.
  • Must be flexible with the ability to adapt to change when required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all trade secrets, including recipes, policies and procedures.
  • Must be well groomed and properly attired.
  • Must work a minimum of 50 hours per week.
  • Must be able to work special events, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must have reliable transportation and phone.
  • Must be able to communicate in English. – IF APPLICABLE
  • Able and willing to work cooperatively with other team members.
