The District Manager is responsible for supervising, staffing, training, and overseeing the successful execution of operational and financial performance within an assigned Pump & Pantry District. 

 

This role leads multiple General Managers and partners directly with Support Center departments to refine processes, drive operational excellence, and improve store execution.  The District Manager is accountable for full district P&L performance and is responsible for recruiting, developing, and retaining a high-performing leadership team, including General Managers, QSR Managers, and food service leaders. This position is also responsible for building a strong bench of leaders prepared for advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Spends approximately 80% of time in stores with store leadership and 20% collaborating with the Regional Manager and Support Center teams on process improvement and standardization.
  • Partners with Regional Manager to establish hours of operation and staffing requirements to achieve financial and operational execution targets.
  • Hires, leads, manages, trains, and develops General Managers and all store leadership positions.       
  • Conducts monthly P&L reviews and develops corrective action plans as needed.
  • Monitors field performance to ensure processes, procedures, and business operations are executed effectively.
  • Oversees operational training programs in partnership with appropriate that are Support Center teams.
  • Works with General Managers to ensure expectations for Fast, Fresh, In-stock and Clean standards are consistently met and develops corrective action plans when necessary.  
  • Oversees implementation of brand standards across operation, processes, communications, and customer interactions to ensure alignment with company values, messaging, and visual identity.  
  • Develops, updates, and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and partners with Support Center teams to standardize scalable processes that drive consistency, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Develops and executes sales strategies to grow district performance.
  • Assists in evaluating, developing budgets and operates within budget guidelines.
  • Partners with the recruiting team to ensure a steady pipeline of qualified applicants.
  • Supports ownership, executive team, divisional director, and Regional Manager in all aspects of business operations.
  • Ensures consistent food quality, presentation, and service standards while maintaining compliance with food safety regulations and state requirements.
  • Provides friendly, professional, and responsive customer service. Provides ownership and support for select systems and processes that support stores.

 

Additional Job Duties:

  • Assists in other duties, as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises General Managers. 

Qualifications

 

Education and/or Experience (include certs or licenses needed):

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
  • Two or more years multi-unit experience or related experience with P&L accountability

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of internet-based software, point-of-sale systems, category management system, order processing systems, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze monthly P&L statements.
  • Ability to implement and monitor budget controls.
  • Current valid driver's license and be insurable to drive.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly driven, organized confident, and skilled problem-solver.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business needs require.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.
  • Demonstrated ability willingness to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with team members at all levels.
  • Obtain QSR Certification in the licensed programs and any future branded concepts.

  • Requires periodic travel to the corporate office located in Grand Island, Nebraska, to support business operations, meetings, and training.
